“These forestry roads were badly damaged during the August weather event and can’t be used,” says Mark Owen, Regional Manager Wellington and Top of the South.

Surpassing expectations
As our Iron Test team arrives at the CJ Newland Logging container near Whanganui, it is a bit puzzling to see the new Alpine Yarder RS450MI about 100 metres away up through the cutover hauling wood. Worker advocates are questioning whether police have the necessary expertise to gather evidence from a forestry fatality site to support a potential prosecution, and have labelled WorkSafe's actions disrespec..... more

Agricultural emissions proposal needs a rethink
The Taxpayers’ Union is slamming this week’s announcement by Government that agricultural emissions will attract a price set by politicians and bureaucrats by decree rather than using the market price of the Emissions Trading Scheme, calling it “the worst of all worlds”.
Taxpayers’ Union Campaigns Manager, Callum Purves, says: “The whole point of the Emissions Trading Scheme is to act as an invisible hand incentivising cuts to emissions, general..... more
