The Northland forestry industry will celebrate the nominees and crown the winners this week at its gala awards night.
The 2026 Northland Forestry Awards will take place tomorrow at McKay Stadium, Whangarei, with hundreds of forestry professionals and supporters from around the region gathering to network and acknowledge those exceptional companies and individuals who continue to demonstrate innovation, leadership and best practice across all aspects of the sector.
The awards recognise excellence across the breadth of the sector — from harvesting, silviculture and transport, through to innovation, environmental stewardship, health and safety, leadership and emerging talent.
Nominations for all award categories closed in August, with a significant number of submissions in all 16 categories. The Northland Wood Council Skilled Professional of the Year will be chosen from the winners of the core excellence awards.
Adding to the occasion will be this year’s MC, one of New Zealand’s favourite actors and radio hosts, Tammy Davis.
Better known as Munter from Outrageous Fortune, Tammy grew up in and around the forestry industry and lived and trained in Northland, making him a fitting host.
The event is more than an awards ceremony — it is an opportunity for the industry to come together, celebrate its people, recognise achievements and enjoy a great night with colleagues, friends and whanau.
Organisers say, after a challenging year, they want to thank the industry for continuing to sponsor and support this important event. Now, more than ever, it is vital to champion the hard work, collaboration and the positive impact recognition can have on a team.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the awards, making it a particularly special occasion for an industry that plays a significant role in Northland’s economy and communities.
