Forestry filming the start of something big

Forestry filming the start of something big

A decade ago, Ivan Turdeich was sent by his boss, Ron Thomasson, on a visit to Canada to see first-hand the Tigercat operation. He came back armed with a slew of video and photographs that he wanted to share with others at Thomassen Logging.

He ended up making a video and posting it on the newly created Thomassen Logging’s Facebook page. It went “gangbusters”. Buoyed by the initial reaction and seeing the potential of using videos and social media and YouTube to highlight the many facets of forestry, Ivan gradually acquired more gear, more footage and made more content and gained wider and wider audiences. He also formed ITPV Production.

Not one to sit still, since then he has branched out in all kinds of directions from making instructional videos and designing apps to livestreaming rugby while still being part of the Thomassen team. He even has his own clothing range.

To find out more about where his creativeness has taken Ivan, read the full article in the November 2026 edition of NZ Logger magazine, on sale from 2 November. Check the link on this page to subscribe to either a printed or digital copy (or both).
